Thrivent Financial for Lutherans

Thrivent Financial for Lutherans is a faith-based, not-for-profit membership organization nearly 2.5 million members strong. Thrivent Builds with Habitat for Humanity brings members of Thrivent Financial together with Lutheran congregations, other volunteers, Habitat affiliates and host communities to build simple, decent, affordable homes with partner families in need. There are two programs designed to help families achieve greater economic independence:

  - Thrivent Builds Homes is a national program that joins the nearly 3 million Thrivent Financial members with Habitat for Humanity volunteers, other Lutherans, their families and their communities to build hundreds of homes annually in the United States.

  - Thrivent Builds Worldwide is a program of short-term (one- to three-week) international and domestic working trips for individuals or groups to build Habitat houses in partnership with families facing critical housing needs.

In 2005, Thrivent Financial for Lutherans and Habitat for Humanity International joined together to create the “Thrivent Builds with Habitat for Humanity” alliance, a $125 million alliance designed to help address the complex issue of poverty housing. The relationship is helping Habitat for Humanity to increase its annual house production by hundreds of homes per year in the United States and around the world. As a not-for-profit organization, part of the mission of Thrivent Financial is to help individuals and families achieve financial security. A home is often a family’s biggest asset, making it an important part of achieving economic independence. Habitat for Humanity seeks to create affordable housing in partnership with those who otherwise could not purchase a home of their own. In building simple, decent, and affordable homes with families in need, the Thrivent Builds alliance reflects the missions and values of both organizations. Thrivent Builds Homes, through partnerships between our affiliate and the local Thrivent Financial for Lutherans Chapter and local Lutheran churches has funded seven homes built in the Flathead Valley over the last decade.

In addition to this generous funding Habitat for Humanity of Flathead Valley is pleased to be a new destination for Thrivent Builds Worldwide. In September of 2011 we hosted our first Thrivent Builds Worldwide trip. The group was composed of a number of Thrivent representatives and members from Washington, Oregon, and Minnesota.
