Student and Youth Groups

Collegiate Challenge

Collegiate Challenge is a year-round alternative holiday break program that offers groups of students, 16 years of age and older, the opportunity to visit one of the 250 Habitat for Humanity host affiliates throughout the United States. Students spend one week working in partnership with the local affiliate, the local community and partner families to help eliminate substandard housing in the area. In 2011 Habitat for Humanity of Flathead Valley hosted two Collegiate Challenge groups from San Diego State University and Western Kentucky University. In addition to donating their time and energy on the build site, these students raised more than $2,000 for HFHFV’s Columbia Falls 5th Street development.

Students are helping themselves and their own communities as they help others build new homes, new hope and new lives. Many of the students involved with the Collegiate Challenge program are active members of their local Habitat for Humanity campus chapter or affiliate. This program allows students the opportunity to bring back skills, experiences and enthusiasm to share with the rest of their school and local community.
